Have you noticed that this coverage option is the most expensive part of your RV policy? If you are the owner of a newer or high end RV this will be the case.. Why? Well about 80% of RV claims are filed under this coverage. It is also knows as "Other Than Collision" and for us in the know "Comp". This is also the coverage you want to make sure you have when your RV is being stored.
Here is what it typically covers:
Fire, Lightning, Explosion, Power Surge
Theft of your RV
Wind, Tornado, Hurricane
Hail, Water, Flood
Contact with an animal
Glass Breakage
Vandalism
Here is what it typically does NOT cover:
Wear and Tear
Freezing
Mechanical or electrical breakdown or failure not caused by one of the above
Manufacturer Defects
Rust or Corrosion
Gradual Deterioration (don't let that slow water leak go and then hope to turn it in for coverage)
Improper Maintenance (grease those slides people)!!
Road Damage to Tires however if the blown tire damages the RV undercarriage, the that is typically covered.
